It's All About the Music Baby
A fun-loving band with a priority to get people dancing, the members of Smoldering Roots have been singing, performing, and playing since 2015 at local festivals and clubs throughout the Twin Cities. Mary (formerly on guitar) one of the band's original members, along with Dave (on drums), Brett (on bass/keys) and Heather (lead vocals), have played in many bands over the years. They came together in the current line-up at the end of 2017, and share a love for music and performing. As of January 2022, we are currently on a hiatus until further notice. Sum of Talented Parts

BRETT HAUGEN
Bass/Keys/Vocals
Brett is a huge fan of the Minneapolis sound. His favorites include the Replacements, Husker Du and Soul Asylum. He has played with several cover and original bands in the Twin Cities including Jett Fetish, the Neon Martinis, and recently joined Smoldering Roots in 2017. Brett is the backbone of the band.
HEATHER CAILLIER
Lead Vocals
Heather worked professionally as a vocalist touring the nation and performing with various Top 40 bands for 11 years. She then founded one of the largest award-winning Wedding DJ companies in the Twin Cities. After nearly 10 years off the stage, in 2016 she began singing again. Heather also plays bass with a few local projects and is thrilled to be the lead vocalist for Smoldering Roots.

MARY STONE
Formerly on Guitar/Vocals
Mary is the unassuming shining star of the band. People are always shocked when they see this down-to-earth respiratory therapist by day, shredding on guitar playing Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton and other guitar legends note for note. Her guitar skills are coupled with her sweet, but sometimes raspy vocals. As the band leader and original member, Mary is one bad-ass lady! Mary also plays with the band LoveTrain and is a volunteer and teacher with She Rock She Rock.
DAVE DECOURCY
Drums/Vocals
Dave has been with Smoldering Roots since 2016 as a hard-hitting rock and blues drummer with gritty vocals, bringing a consistent and solid performance every time. He is a Minnesota native who grew up in the northern suburbs cutting his teeth on the rock bands of the 70's and 80's, which carries through to his style today.
